University Collaboration in support of Earthquake Transportation Planning

Description: Purdue University Department of Engineering performed a detailed inventory of approximately 800 bridges in 11 southern Indiana counties for the purpose of assessing earthquake risk to these structures. Of these bridges, approximately 400 were carefully analyzed by Purdue to asses their risk to earthquakes. As part of this project, INDOT indicated that they would like to be able to maintain the bridge inventory and to be provided with a means by which they can conduct earthquake analysis on the bridge inventory on an ongoing basis. The Polis Center integrated the updated bridge inventory into HAZUS-MH and provided a workshop to INDOT staff on the use of the tool to conduct earthquake risk analysis.
