GIS Hazard Analysis Assistance Partnership

Description:

Polis assisted CTE AECOM to develop FEMA Disaster Mitigation Act (DMA) 2000 Multi Hazard Mitigation Plans for the City of Chicago and Joliet Illinois. The Polis Center provided GIS and HAZUS-MH analyses for earthquake, flooding, tornado, and HAZMAT scenarios.

The City of Chicago desired to develop the capacity to extract data from the City’s GIS for use in HAZUS-MH. Polis provided documentation and technical assistance to the GIS staff and used the City GIS extracts to perform the GIS and HAZUS-MH risk assessment analyses. The Polis Center assisted the Will County GIS staff to develop and update critical facilities prior to performing the analyses.
