State of Indiana 2003 Pre-Disaster Mitigation Competitive (PDM-C) Grant

Description: The Indiana State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is responsible for supporting activities that can prevent or reduce the significant losses that result from disasters. Successful mitigation activities are based on careful assessment of what may occur in the event of a disaster. Such planning often requires considerable expertise in diverse disciplines in order to evaluate the full scope of potential loss. Many communities in Indiana have not yet developed mitigation plans due to a lack of expertise and resources. The grant utilizes university and local regional economic development planning expertise to enhance the abilities of local communities to carry out planning and develop, implement, and maintain effective mitigation strategies.
